Team Immunity has won the WCG 2011 Australia qualifier and have now booked their place in the WCG World final in Busan, Korea later in the year.

The Australian National final took place in Queensland's Gold Coast with six teams progressing from local qualifiers within Australia to play in a single elimination best-of-three bracket. The two favourites to take out the event were Immunity and DinQ (formerly eXile5) featuring the fan favourite Nick "peekay" Wise. With these teams receiving the first round bye's, the first round matches saw Landoms defeat 1UP, and Athletico defeat Alpha.

In the second round matches, both Immunity and DinQ moved past Landoms and Athletico to set up the Grand-final match many were expecting. The first map of the final was de_inferno where DinQ were able to keep pace with Immunity until the final stages of the map, the score ending 16-11 in favour of Immunity.

With de_inferno over, both teams then moved onto de_dust2, where Immunity took a commanding 5-0 lead when the power was cut off. Unfortunately this ruined the momentum and atmosphere of everyone involved. Once the power was restored and money figured out the game resumed where it left off. Immunity seemed to handle the pressure better and went on to post a big win, 16-2.

Broken tag

Team Immunity have now made it back-to-back WCG wins in Australia, after successfully winning their 2010 campaign last year, only to be drawn into a group featuring Lions from Sweden, FACE2FACE from France and EG from the United States. Hopefully 2011 will provide a more favourable group for the Australian's who will be looking to show some good form on an International level.
